SD ISSA CYBER SUMMIT

Thursday 11/19/09 - Thursday 11/19/09   7:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Location: Cubic Conference Center

What really matters in Cyber Security - where the opportunities are!

General theme/key objectives: Collaboratively identify, assess and then distill the key cyber issues and activities we must all address collectively, to then tailor our organizational capabilities and products around them. Otherwise the current high level organizational and political focus in cyber will continue with no government consensus on an actionable technical way forward. Thus industry needs to decipher and decide what THEY collectively see as the key technical actions to move "cyber security" forward asap, as the threat is upon us ALL NOW - see the recent, very telling "60 Minutes"  CBS presentation on Cyber Terrorism"
http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=4865
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/11/06/60minutes/main5555565.shtml

If you saw 60 minutes Monday night, you know there are many security incidents happening NOW (as all the IA folks know anyway): MANY banks ($100m stolen already THIS year, of KNOWN thefts), power plants being affected (one in Brazil, that had a several million folks w/o power for many days), etc, etc that have ALREADY been and are being comprised NOW...   Even our own "CENTCOM" command, among many others!
Until February of this year, ADM McConnell was the nation's top spy. As chief of national intelligence, he oversaw the Central Intelligence Agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency.
Today it's not only possible, all of that has actually happened, plus a lot more we don't even know about.
It's why President Obama has made cyber war defense a top national priority and why some people are already saying that the next big war is less likely to begin with a bang than a blackout.  "Can you imagine your life without electric power or electronic banking ?"  as all it will take is ONE partial successful effort to destroy our confidence in banking - electronic money /  credit is everything now - and we'll all panic....   """
That is, many, many "cyber" threats are in ACTION NOW, as we know cyber crime is huge and growing fast, but we have seemingly no enterprise, top down, technical "implementation level" action on DOING collaborative IA things as a USA TEAM... So THIS is YOUR opportunity to speak up!!!

Give to Casa de Los Pobres - shoes for the poor

Monday 12/22/08 - Monday 12/22/08
Location: Tijuana, Mexico

TIJUANA -- They gather each day outside the iron gates, waiting to feed their hunger.

As the short blast of a whistle breaks the calm, they inch their way toward the kitchen at Casa de los Pobres, where a mixture of squash and bologna, soup and tortillas await them. Some in this downtrodden flock of 600 lean on crutches or walkers, and others rock their babies in their arms. Many wear long faces brought on by hunger and despair. This is the every day affair.

This year on December 22nd, about 1,400 families will recieve food, a blanket, one pair of shoes, gifts, and fresh fruit from Casa de Los Pobres, assisted by the hardworking, dedicated, and loving nuns that collect and distribute the goods every year.

Friends of the Poor is proud to support this day annually and asks for your supporting donation. Volunteers welcome.
